While pregnancy can be a joyous time, it can also present some odd symptoms and fears.

From Jenna Dewan-Tatum‘s hormonal dreams, to Kim Kardashian‘s wacky food cravings, to Kristin Cavallari‘s delivery dilemma, let’s hear from seven celebrity mums and their pregnancy confessions.

Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West welcomed their first child – daughter North West – on June 15. The first-time mum admitted that pregnancy wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.
“Being pregnant is not as easy as my sister [Kourtney Kardashian] made it look or as my mum [Kris Jenner] has made it look,” Kim admits.
As for her pregnancy cravings? “I’m craving carrots and ranch dressing,” she said. “I used to love sweets, I used to love chocolate, can’t even eat chocolate!”

Handsome couple Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum welcomed their first child – daughter Everly – on May 31. During her pregnancy, Jenna shared a wacky pregnancy dream.
“OK my fellow preggars ladies… about these hormonal dreams,” she posted on Twitter. “Is it normal to fly on a magic carpet while presenting at Golden Globes?? Lol.”

Kristin Cavallari‘s birth plan didn’t exactly go as she had hoped when it was time to deliver Camden, her first child with Jay Cutler.
“[Childbirth] hurt like a bitch and felt like period cramps, but ten times worse,” Kristin says.
And when it came time to deliver her son, she didn’t want her football star hubby to see the birth. “I was like, ‘You’re going to be behind me. You’re not going to see anything,’” she says. “And the nurse was like, ‘Oh, no, no. He’s going to hold your leg. I was like, ‘Oh, no, he’s not.’ She was like, ‘It’s different when it’s your own.’”

In her signature quirky style, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi gives graphic details of her son Lorenzo’s August 2012 birth.
“When my water broke, I thought it would be like [gushing],” she shares.
Snooki adds: “But I was just like, peeing my pants every two seconds. I didn’t know what was going on! I couldn’t control it, and I was like ‘I think my water broke.’ I was in labor for 27 hours, but I didn’t feel anything because I got the epidural.”

New mum-of-two Jessica Simpson accidentally revealed the gender of her second baby – son Ace Knute – in March 2013.
“The crazy thing is I never knew a wiener could make me nauseous,” Jessica quips.
She added: “It’s a totally different pregnancy. I just feel awful, I’ve been vomiting,” says Jessica, also mum to 16-month-old daughter Maxwell with fiancé Eric Johnson.

Star couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard welcomed their first child – daughter Lincoln – on March 28.
“I’ve got nothing to prove” by giving birth naturally, she joked in January. “I feel like, when I arrive at the hospital, I want a glass of whiskey, I want the epidural in my back and I want to get hit in the face with a baseball bat and wake me up when it’s over because I’ve seen the videos – and it looks terrifying.”
That being said, she loved pregnancy and said her “self-esteem has never been higher”.
“I look in the mirror and I think it’s the reverse body dysmorphia,” she added, “because I can understand what my shape is, but I see Brooke Shields. And it doesn’t make a lick of sense, but it’s something that the baby’s giving me hormonally makes me feel really giggly and happy”.

This is 40 star Megan Fox opened up about giving birth naturally to her son Noah Shannon.
“I was screaming for an epidural when Brian was driving me to the hospital because my water broke on its own,” the actress says of Noah’s September 27 birth. “It was level orange alert pain.”
With husband Brian Austin Green by her side, Megan (currently pregnant with the couple’s second child) says the pain was “horrific”.
“It hurts so bad,” she shares. “It was so intense. And I thought I was gonna be really tough and make it, I was gonna labor to like 8 cm . . . but the first contraction that I got was horrific!”
And it sounds like the pain left no time for beautifying pre-birth.
“I had wet hair so I was trying to blow-dry my hair before I went to the hospital,” she laughs. “I didn’t want to go to the hospital with wet hair!”

Adoption numbers are on the rise in Hollywood. Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Hugh Jackman and Katherine Heigl are amongst the celebrities who are growing their families by adopting children. Read about what other stars are doing the same and how their life has changed.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

“They have programs in their countries [for] each of them we’re starting…They are from their country and they are of their country and they should know that.”

A-listers Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are parents to six children: Maddox, 12, Pax, 9, Zahara, 8, Shiloh, 7, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 5.

Their three eldest children were adopted from Cambodia, Vietnam and Ethiopia — although, Angie said she’s lost track of the details. “I couldn’t tell you in my own home who’s adopted and who’s not,” Angelina recently said.

“It doesn’t cross my mind,” she added. “There is something really wonderful when you adopt a child from another country because that whole country enters your house. We have different languages in our house, we have different flags up in our house, we have different food and culture and discussions and we go to their countries.”

The Oscar-winner wants her children to one day give back to their homelands.

“They have programs in their countries [for] each of them we’re starting. There’s a TB/AIDS clinic being built for Zahara; there’s a clinic already for Mad[dox]. So each of them will take that responsibility. They are from their country and they are of their country and they should know that, it’s part of their family, we are their family but so is their country.”

Charlize Theron

“‘Would you please take me to orphanage, so that I can go and adopt a baby?’

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron shocked fans with her baby news in March. The actress adopted a baby boy named Jackson.

Charlize opened up about a letter she wrote at eight years of age, sharing her plans for a future adoption.

“My mother found [it]. It said, ‘Would you please take me to orphanage, so that I can go and adopt a baby?’ I always knew I would adopt – always,” she shared.

Sandra Bullock

“It was like he had always been a part of our lives. All I said when I met him was, ‘Oh, there you are.’”

Not only did Sandra Bullock become an Academy Award-winner in 2010, she also become a mum. The Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close actress adopted a New Orleans-born boy, Louis, in January 2010.

Now three years old, Louis has become Sandra’s greatest joy. “He’s just perfect, I can’t even describe him any other way,” she gushed.

Sandra opened up about the first time she laid eyes on her gorgeous son.

“The first time I met Louis, it was like the whole outside world got quiet,” she said. “It was like he had always been a part of our lives. All I said when I met him was, ‘Oh, there you are.’”

“I was accused by a female Malawian judge that because I was divorced, I was an unfit mother.”

The Queen of Pop has adopted two children from Malawi – David, 8, and Mercy, 6 – and has since spoken about the experience.

“This was an eye opening experience” and “a real low point in my life,” the Like a Virgin singer said of adopting David.

“I didn’t know that trying to adopt a child was going to land me in another sh– storm,” she added. “I was accused of kidnapping, child trafficking, using my celebrity muscle to jump ahead in the line, bribing government officials, witchcraft, you name it. I could get my head around people giving me a hard time for simulating masturbation onstage or publishing my Sex book, even kissing Britney Spears at an awards show, but trying to save a child’s life was not something I thought I would be punished for. . . In any case, I got through it. I survived.”

The Material Mum was more prepared for her second adoption.

“When I adopted Mercy James, I put my armour on,” the popstar said. “I tried to be more prepared. I braced myself. This time I was accused by a female Malawian judge that because I was divorced, I was an unfit mother. I fought the Supreme Court and I won. It took almost another year and many lawyers. I still got the shit kicked out of me, but it didn’t hurt as much. And looking back, I do not regret one moment of the fight.”

Hugh Jackman

“I’m working on an international campaign to shine a light on the fact that there are 153 million orphans in the world.”

Hugh Jackman is happiest, “being with my family, definitely, without a doubt.”

The sexy Wolverine star and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, have two adopted children Oscar, 13, and Ava, 8. The hands-on dad said it was a “no-brainer” for them to adopt children in need.

“When we first went to talk to someone in Los Angeles about adoption, I remember, they said, ‘What do you want?’ I said, ‘Well, healthy would be good.’ And they said, ‘Well, what about the race?’ We’d ticked mixed race. And he said, ‘Now, listen. Please don’t, please don’t just tick that because you think it’s the right thing to tick.’ And he said to me, that we turn away children every month who are mixed race, because we can’t find families for them.”

He’s also spoken of the joys of adoption.

“A while back, there was a lot of shame attached to it and parents wouldn’t tell their kids they were adopted,” he said. “What’s great is that the focus is now shifting to the care of the child. We were very fortunate and open – I can’t go into details because of the privacy of the birth parents, but I can tell you it was amicable. Adoption is a wonderful thing to do.”

“I’m working on an international campaign to shine a light on the fact that there are 153 million orphans in the world,” the actor recently said. “If that were a country, it would be the ninth-largest in the world, just ahead of Russia.”

Sheryl Crow

A year after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Sheryl Crow adopted her now six year old son, Wyatt. The songstress said she always knew she’d be a mum.

“There was a shift in my life when I got diagnosed, [with breast cancer] because it demanded I look at everything and redefine my life,” she said. “I always felt I would be a mum. I have strong maternal instincts.”

The singer went on to adopt a second son, Levi, now three.

“I’ve always had maternal instincts,” she said. “And there are so many different ways you can go about that. My sons didn’t have to be from me. They didn’t have to look like me. I just wanted children to love.”

“They have so much energy and they keep me young!” Sheryl recently told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “I wouldn’t change a thing. I love getting to see things through their eyes.”

Katherine Heigl & Josh Kelley

“She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster.”

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley adopted their daughter Naleigh from Korea when she was 10 months old.

“[Adoption has] been a big part of my life and my family,” Katherine said. “My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the 70s and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do.”

Katherine went on to talk about her now four-year-old daughter.

“She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.”

The couple went on to adopt a second daughter, Adalaide, domestically, in April. “She’s great! She’s a delicious, beautiful, wonderful child,” the Grey’s Anatomy alum gushed of her new daughter.

Mariska Hargitay

Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann endured a long and emotionally challenging journey to finally reach their beautiful family of five and now, things couldn’t be better for the happy couple.

“They’re awesome and perfect,” the star said of sons August, 7, and Andrew, 2, and daughter Amaya, 2. “My heart just keeps getting bigger and bigger.”

The actress opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about her surprising second adoption.

Just months after bringing home daughter Amaya after an emotionally-trying adoption process, the couple’s lawyer called them to let them know an agency had a newborn boy ready to be adopted as well.

“It was one of those things that we were not expecting at all and my husband and I looked at each other and have never been more sure about anything.”

The Little Couple

“We’ve dealt with prejudice and many challenges.”

The Little Couple’s Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein introduced their three year old son William on the Katie Couric show in April. And just one month later, they had more exciting news to report.

After years of hoping to become parents and suffering through fertility issues, the couple announced they adopted a 19 month old girl from India they have named Zoey.

“We’re so delighted that Zoey will be joining our family and that William will have a little sister coming home very soon,” the reality TV couple said in a statement in May.

Zoey also has a form of dwarfism like her adoptive parents and brother, Will.

“We’ve dealt with prejudice and many challenges,” Jennifer said of her life experiences. “I feel very lucky and fortunate that I have the wonderful life I have.”

Jillian Michaels

“They say, ‘We have a referral for you,’ which means they’ve matched you with a child…and in less than 24 hours she says, ‘By the way, I’m pregnant.’”

The Biggest Loser star Jillian Michaels and her partner Heidi Rhoades became parents to two children in May: A 2-year-old daughter Lukensia and a newborn son Phoenix.

“About three and a half years ago I began dating my partner Heidi,” Jillian shared on her road toward motherhood. “We had a very easy going, comfortable and no-pressure relationship. And a year or so into our relationship, I decided I wanted to adopt.”

The celebrity trainer went on to say the adoption process was not easy, and after a year and a half of waiting for a referral from Africa, she switched gears.

“I switched all my paperwork over to Haiti and I get a phone call one day,” she shared. “Heidi is now trying to get pregnant for five months now. They say, ‘We have a referral for you,’ which means they’ve matched you with a child. I was like, ‘This is unbelievable, this is great!’ I come home and tell Heidi, and in less than 24 hours she says, ‘By the way, I’m pregnant.’”

We hear from five Celebrity parents on being single, dating and raising their kids.

Many of our favourite celebrities are single parents and dating. From Jennifer Lopez who juggles time in between raising her twins while being an American Idol judge to Britney Spears, who is busy spending time in Los Angeles with her two boys and in Las Vegas performing her show Britney: Piece of Me, let’s take a look at the following five celebrities who are divorced and raising their kids.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez (pictured above) currently is a judge on American Idol and occasionally brings her 6-year-old twins Max and Emme to the set. She announced her split from husband Marc Anthony in July 2011 and has since been dating 26-year-old Casper Smart.

On her relationship with Casper, she says “For me, it’s about having a great partner to walk this life with. I have my own high standards for what I want in a partner and how I want to be treated. I bring a lot to the table. I’m not talking about material things but what I have to offer as a person – love and loyalty and all the things that make a good relationship. It’s funny, early on with Beau (Casper), I remember telling him how I have a real button on being ignored. And he was like, ‘Listen, if somebody ignores you, then forget them. They don’t deserve to have your attention’. But it’s funny. Sometimes when we don’t get it, we try to get it in a negative way, you know?”

Jennifer will also be playing a single mum in the series Shades of Blue. She will play Harlee McCord, “a single mother and detective who is recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force”.

“If your child hasn’t seen you all day you have to understand they need you – you’re all they’ve got!” – Heidi

Heidi Klum

America’s Got Talent judge Heidi Klum is a mum of four, to daughters Leni, 10, and Lou, 4, and sons Henry, 8, and Johan, 7, with former husband, singer Seal. She is currently dating NYC art dealer Vito Schnabel, who has also been linked to Demi Moore and Liv Tyler. Heidi Klum shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop what she loves about being a mum.

“There are so many amazing things. I would say the love that you feel with a child. For me, having a family is life and I understood once I had children how amazing it is, and that nothing else is really important but them,” she says.

After the split, she said, “I’m a lioness. I have four cubs. I’m a mum. I want to take care of my kids and protect them says. I don’t want to talk about them, or him, or me.”

She also has some advice for other mums: “Before you have kids you have to really know your whole world is about to completely change. You are responsible for them and you need to be really clear on that. Try to see it from the kid’s side; you have to understand them. If you’ve got 20 emails to get through the emails can wait. If your child hasn’t seen you all day you have to understand they need you – you’re all they’ve got!”.

Heidi and her 4 kids are often seen out and about. When asked about some of her favourite family activities, she commented, “We love to go to the park or take a bike ride along the beach. We definitely like to spend time outside which we get to do often in Los Angeles because the weather is always beautiful. During the summer, we barbecue a lot at home. We have friends over and jump into our beautiful pool.”

Britney Spears

Britney Spears – who has Sean Preston, 8, and Jayden James, 7, with ex-husband Kevin Federline – is still going strong with 28-year-old David Lucado.

During her interview with Ellen DeGeneres she explained how she met the Virginia-based lawyer. She said, “I met him at a party. My friends brought me up to him to introduce me to him.”

Britney is busy spending time in Los Angeles with her boys and in Las Vegas performing for her show Britney: Piece of Me at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Fortunately she grew up being close to her mum Lynn, who she says has given her inspiration. “My mum is a wonderful woman. She’s always been an inspiration to me, but having kids helped me make even more sense of my relationship with her. My sons [Sean] Preston and Jayden are eight and seven now – and not only do I find myself doing some of the things my mum used to do, I also understand why she did them.”

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes blindsided Tom Cruise with divorce papers in June 2012. She now lives in a $12,500-a-month apartment in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood with her daughter, 8-year-old Suri Cruise.

Katie loves living in the city. She says, “New York has been very good to both of us. I love the theatre, the galleries in my neighborhood. Stuff like that is so much of what makes me love this city. I love talking to my neighbours in the elevator. I like feeling a part of something big. I love the community in New York. I love New Yorkers. I ran into someone on the street the other day that I went to high school with. I love the moments of spontaneity every day.”

Ryan Phillippe

Ryan Phillippe divorced Reese Witherspoon in 2006 after seven years of marriage. They have two children together Ava, 14, and Deacon, 10. He also has a 2 1/2-year-old daughter Kailani with ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp.

He has been dating 22-year-old law student Paulina Slagter since 2011. Career wise he’s currently working on the new series Secrets and Lies.

“If I had the education and what they have offered to them as kids, I may have gone a different way.”

Ryan says he and Reese don’t want their children to become spoiled. “That’s been a core element of our parenting, both Reese and I with the kids, keeping them aware. Neither of us grew up particularly privileged. Our kids are now, so it’s important to keep them mindful and I’ve got to say we’ve done that job.”

He also says he wouldn’t encourage their kids to become actors. “I think there’s good and bad people in each and every occupation. If they’re tough enough to handle all that would go along with it, then you know…And I’ve often said and I don’t mean to dismiss or demean our industry, but I’d like to see them do something a little more meaningful or important. If I had the education and what they have offered to them as kids, I may have gone a different way.”

Jessica opens up to CelebrityBabyScoop about her daughters Honor, four, and Haven, one, who “like to play, explore, get messy, and are creative.” She goes on to talk about modeling “eco-friendly habits for the girls,” her book that will hit shelves in March, and her upcoming film that she can’t wait to take “Honor and her friends to see.”

“We Try To Model And Practice Eco-friendly Habits For The Girls”

She’s one of our favorite celebrity mums. From her chic sense of style, to her hands-on playdates at the park, to her eco-friendly business, we can’t get enough of Jessica Alba. After creating The Honest Company last year, the mum-of-two is now joining forces with Zulily to share her safe and sustainable products with a new audience.

CBS: We hear The Honest Company has joined forces with Zulily. Tell us all about the new partnership.

JA: “The Honest Company and Zulily both believe in simplifying families’ busy lives by bringing them affordable, stylish, and trusted products every day. Our companies also support using business for social good and are committed to giving back to families in need. So, I knew working together would be a great extension of our Honest mission.

Because Zulily is about helping mums discover new brands and products, we’re excited to reach this new audience, share our safe and effective eco-friendly products with them, and grow our communities together.”

CBS: How are your daughters doing? What are they into these days? What do they do to make you laugh?

JA: “Every day with my girls is a dream and just hanging out with them is the best thing ever. They’re happy and healthy one and four year olds who like to play, explore, get messy, and are creative. And since they’re typical kiddos, they’re bound to make me laugh.”

CBS: What are some of the ways you get your girls to be eco-friendly? What are some tips in teaching our kids to love our environment?

JA: “First and foremost, we try to model and practice eco-friendly habits for the girls. Otherwise, we talk to them about being mindful and explain that things can be turned into something else one day. This can be as simple as teaching them about recyclables and showing how to sort bottles and cans from trash.

We also do a lot of DIY crafts like using cardboard boxes to make airplanes and dollhouses -ur creative playtime together similarly shows the girls about repurposing old items.

Involving children in gardening and cooking is another great way to inspire eco-friendly living. Caring for the plants in our herb wall garden helps Honor understand the steps to growing food (including patience!), how it ultimately lands on her plate, and about being a good steward of the planet.

Honor is also a great sous chef when we’re in the kitchen, so being a part of the dinner process encourages her to eat the foods she grows and develops her taste for fresh ingredients. Hopefully, this lays the foundation for children to prioritize their health and that of the planet.”

CBS: What’s up next for you?

JA: “I’m very excited to publish my first book The Honest Life this March! It’s a colourful how-to guidebook for people who want to make a healthy and non-toxic home without giving up the fun fashionable things. I hope people will be inspired to make the ideas their own and find what works for them.

Also, I’m looking forward to taking Honor and her friends to see my upcoming animated film Escape from Planet Earth because it’s really a sweet story. I had a lot of fun working on this film – it was great to play the nemesis since I don’t often get to play that role.
